Driving Range

We have recently placed a board with distances to each colored flag on the driving range.  This should help with training ones self with different distances.  The distances are measured from the spot of the board to each colored flag.

Number 8 Hogan

The number eight white tee sees a lot of action any given week.  Recently we moved the white tee markers to the forward tee locations to give this area a break.  On Monday, we also reseeded the tee area and top dressed it with an organic compost mix to promote seed growth and recovery.

Nursery

Today, we resoded our nursery with new tifeagle hybrid bermudagrass.  We first killed everything that was there with roundup. Second, we cut away what was needed to be removed. We then tilled everything in with a couple yards of new white sand added to the mix, then today, we resoded it.  We will have a perrenial ryegrass collar/border around it to protect the new tifeagle from 419 encroachment.

Overseed driving range tee

This morning we started overseeding the driving range tee.  The driving range will be mats only for the next few weeks to allow proper germination. Pictured below is Jose Flores, Odilon Hernandez, Guadalupe Martinez, and Fernando Guitierrez making their first passes on the driving range tee with the drop seeder.

#3 Hogan

As we gear up for our Member/Guest Tournament, we've been staying as busy as ever trying to improve as many areas on the golf courses as we can.  To the left of number three green on the Hogan we had an area where native rock to TCCC was incorporated to improve an area beaten down by cart traffic.  The rocks looked good but to add better definition to this area we cleaned out the weeds and the rock and replaced it with a layer of mulch.

Overseeding target greens

We overseeded the target greens at the driving range today.  We first dropped seed on the target greens then spiked and watered in the seed.  For the next few days, sprinkler heads will be coming on a few times a day to help grow in overseed.

Below, Jose Flores and Jose Aguilar are seeding a target green using a drop spreader.
We then had Odilon spike the seed into the target greens.
Here is an up lose view of the overseeded area after spiking in.
We then watered in each green for ten minutes.
We should see germination taking place within the next couple of weeks.
